Cyclic Olefin Copolymer
Characteristics (1) Low density, about 10% lower than PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) and PC (polycarbonate), which is beneficial for product lightweighting; (2) The saturation water absorption rate is small, and the COC water absorption rate is much lower than PMMA, which will not cause a decrease in physical properties due to water absorption and almost does not absorb water; (3) Due to the presence of monomers with low polarity and anisotropy, it is an amorphous transparent material with a low birefringence index; (4) The glass transition temperature of transparent resin with high heat resistance can reach 140~170 ºC, which is the heat resistance index of amorphous polymers; (5) Easy to inject into shape; (6) Excellent mechanical properties, higher tensile strength and elastic modulus than PC; (7) Excellent reproducibility leads to high product quality; (8) Low dielectric constant, especially good high-frequency performance, makes it the material with the best dielectric properties for thermoplastic materials; (9) Good scratch resistance, COC pencil hardness is similar to PMMA, and scratch resistance is an important performance indicator of optical materials; (10) The side chains of COC molecules have polar groups, which have good adhesion with inorganic and organic materials and are easy to seal;
