Polyetherimide, abbreviated as PEI, is an amber transparent solid with inherent flame retardancy and low smoke content without any additives. It has an oxygen index of 47%, a combustion grade of UL94-V-0, and a density of 1.28-1.42g/cm3. PEI has strong high-temperature stability, and even non reinforced PEI still has good toughness and strength. Therefore, the superior thermal stability of PEI can be used to manufacture high-temperature and heat-resistant devices.

PEI material, namely polyetherimide, is a high-performance engineering plastic. It is composed of two groups, ether and imide, and has excellent thermal stability, electrical properties and mechanical properties. The characteristics of PEI material include excellent heat resistance, with a continuous use temperature of up to 180°C and a short-term temperature resistance of up to 220°C. It also has high strength, high rigidity and good wear resistance, and its tensile strength and flexural modulus are higher than PC and PA. In addition, PEI material has excellent insulation properties, and its dielectric constant and dielectric loss are very low in a wide frequency range.
